Theatre Arts Course DescriptionIn this course students will explore the art form of theatre. Though the class will focus primarily on theatrical design (sets, costumes, lighting, and properties), we will also explore the history of theatre, performance, and acting.
Projects1. Introduction to Musical Theatre
With a partner, you will research and present information on a musical production. 2. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Individual set, costume, and prop projects will be created by each student for each production. 3. Make Up Techniques Design & create unique make up for a particular character. 4. Lighting Ideas Working with a guest lighting designer, we are going to learn about how lighting affects a production, and how to create a lighting design. 5. Charlie Brown Christmas Individual set, costume, and prop projects will be created by each student for each production. 6. Abstract Production Design There are many approaches to theatrical design, for this project you will create a design not based in the physical world. 7. Spring Play Individual set, costume, and prop projects will be created by each student for each production. 8. Final Group Project - Your Original Plays In a group of 3 or 4 you will create a play of your own and learn about stage writing, directing, acting, producing, production design, and style. |
